My friend Emily and I are taking this cake decorating class at Micheal's. We've only had two classes, and it has been so fun. We made and decorated our first cake last night and I wanted to show off my masterpiece. It's a layered strawberry cake with a white chocolate pudding filling and pretty good buttercream frosting. Don't look too closely, but as soon as I got home with it, my purse landed on the cake and smashed one of my flower petals!! I was doing so good too. We have learned some piping techniques like the star, and writing, and next week we will learn a bunch more, and the grand finale is the ROSE!! Anyone want to come eat some cake??? Chris liked it, but I don't think he wants to eat the whole thing, and I'm just really not that into cakes. It's good, but I would go for a brownie or cookie over a cake.

This past weekend we attempted to go camping at Mt. Charleston. We went with our friends Emily, Steve and Easton. Emily and I spent ALL day Friday preparing: getting food ready, packing up carloads of stuff, and keeping the boys happy all at the same time. Then we drove up there without our husbands to find a spot. We found a nice little spot with no one around us so we thought it would be great! We spent the next couple hours setting up the tents, unloading ALL the stuff and setting up camp. Oh, and keeping the boys from getting soaking wet in the water faucet and rolling down the hill. The husbands showed up finally and we had a great tin foil dinner and started a nice fire. All was going well, except for the occasional gust of wind. The evening was topped off with my favorite camping tradition of all time- SMORES!!! Nathan went to bed pretty well and I thought "he's going to sleep like a rock". He was exhausted and had no nap that day. Well, at about 2:00 in the morning he woke up and was just screaming and crying and didn't want to go back to bed. We couldn't figure out what he wanted, but finally I got him back to sleep. I felt like I was awake the whole night. The wind was about to blow our tent down on top of us. Around 5:00 AM Nathan woke up again and I was not about to get up for the day, so I snuggled with him in my sleeping bag (which he never lets me do) and he went back to sleep. I, however, was so uncomfortable and by this time had to pee so bad! I finally got myself out of the sleeping bag and tent without waking him up, went to the bathroom and started some water boiling. I needed a hot drink and I knew Easton was awake too, and it wouldn't be long before everyone was up and wanting a fire and breakfast. We talked about staying another night, but after the worst night of sleep for all of us, all we did was eat breakfast, pack up and go home. We were home around 11:00 that morning. It took all of about 1 hour to take everything down and pack up and get out of there (after a whole day of preparing and setting all that stuff up)!!! I hate that! Nathan took a 4 hour nap when we got home and Chris and I both slept some too. All the stuff is packed away, and I'm not sure we'll get it back out this summer. I just wish Nathan would sleep away from home like he does at home! I LOVE camping, but if I don't get any sleep, it's not much fun. I think Nathan needs his own sleeping bag, and his own tent! Then maybe we could get some sleep.
